Testimonials

your tampa postpartum doula

Ann Maynard-Payne

I’ve worked as a licensed social worker, educator, and nanny.  I’ve been blessed to discover that my true calling is in working with families during the “4th trimester”. This time period is the 12 weeks (and sometimes beyond) after birth.

I am a mother of 3 beautiful children and one amazing grandson.  Each of my postpartum periods was different, and I struggled the most with my last. I suffered from postpartum disorder and gained valuable knowledge about caring for myself during this period. After the birth of my grandson, I realized that I had a calling to help families during the postpartum phase. It can be a difficult and frustrating time, and this is where a postpartum doula can help tremendously!

Doula Questions

If you have any questions not listed in the FAQs, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am happy to answer any and all questions you might have!

A postpartum doula is a non-medical professional who is present in your home (or virtually) to provide support and advice to the mother and her family. The doula provides emotional, physical, social, and practical support to families during the 4th trimester.

They provide evidence-based education on infant care, infant feeding, nonjudgmental support, companionship, assistance with newborn care, family adjustment, meal preparation, light household tasks, education on breastfeeding, pumping and milk storage. Many provide overnight care so that parents can get optimal sleep.

Postpartum doula- A supportive advisor and helper who is professionally trained to provide postpartum support to the mother and her family.

Baby Nurse- a professionally trained or lay person who comes into the home and cares for a newborn baby. They specialize only in the care of the baby.

Doulas provide excellent infant care but heir primary focus is education and supporting parents and providing breastfeeding support, emotional support, resources and any necessary referral information.

While prices vary from region to region, generally, the hourly cost is between $40-50 an hour. Some doulas charge more for overnight care.

This time frame varies from family to family, but most families choose to have a postpartum doula for 4- 8 weeks minimum. Many families choose either overnight care or daytime care, depending on personal preferences.

Yes! fully vaccinated and boosted.

I can start coming to work with you before your baby is even born. I help with your gift registry, setting up the baby’s room, organize diaper stations and setting up a postpartum care plan. I can also start coming to you right after the baby is born or whenever you decide!
